Hi Nichdexter,
When starting place a ball say five meters directly behind a goal post in the try area. you pick the ball up in one motion kicking the ball. Aim to get the ball over the crossbar and to land around the 22m line and inside the line of the other goal post which has created an imaginery touchline.
So if ball placed behind left goal post kick it over the crossbar and keeping the ball flight and landing area within an imaginery line from the right post up the field to the 22m. You can do this then from the other goal post.
As you get better move the ball closer to the goal post so that you finally pick the ball form the base of the post can get it over the crossbar and land around the 22m line within the imaginery field of play.
People find there are three kicks availble - kick the ball 'tall' (holdinging it upright), Kicking it 'fat' holding it flat across the palm of your hand or doing the hardest which is a spiral box kick. Technique will come with practice and you will find whats best for you but if you can get the hang time after a quick trasnition from pick up to kick ,within the parameters I have used here then it really can become a good weapon in your arsenal.
hope this helps good luck.
Kind regards
Mike Daves
